TV Azteca to end ADR program Thursday, 9 June 2005, 7:06 pm

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- TV Azteca S.A. , the Mexico City producer of Spanish-language television programming, said it would end its American depositary receipt program. Holders had approved the plan at a special meeting June 1 after an analysis of the costs and benefits of trading ADRs in the U.S. Bank of New York will notify holders of the termination; 30 days later, the New York Stock Exchange will suspend trading of the ADRs. ADR holders then will have 60 days to exchange their ADRs for certificates that are traded on Mexico's stock exchange, TV Azteca said.  TV Azteca off; co. questions benefits of NYSE listing Tuesday, 3 May 2005, 12:30 pm

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Shares of TV Azteca S.A. fell nearly 10% to $7.25 after the Mexico-based Spanish language television producer said it plans to submit a proposal to its shareholders about the usefulness of continuing to list American Depositary Shares on the New York Stock Exchange. The company said it believes that cases of non-compliance in the U.S., such as Enron and WorldCom, have created an over-regulated securities market there, and that this has led to increased costs to maintain a listing. TV Azteca said the benefits of the NYSE listing are "highly questionable" considering the costs, and it wants shareholders to consider this when deciding whether or not to maintain the listing.
